Pink is for girlie girls only, isn't it? Well, maybe the super bright neon pinks, and Gorgeous Husband has a couple of pinkish shirts. Here are three totally made up outfits (I don't own any of the items) as well as a pink T-shirt I'm wearing today.
Uniqlo T-Shirt dressed up with a pre-owned bag by Celine This one is mostly for my buddy, Lynda, who has such a thing about Celine, I wonder if it's ever occurred to her to look for pre-owned items on-line. The other items in this set I'd be interested to try are the sandals; leather and particularly suede can be ruined so easily by the rain in Singapore (and it does rain somewhere on the island and heavily, pretty much every day), I could be tempted to try something that's effectively water-resistant but isn't made by Crocs. |
Scuba Shift Dress from Marks & Spencer I've mentioned before my skeptism with regard scuba as a fabric choice for Singapore. Frankly, I'm equally skeptical with regard scuba's ability to flatter a mature figure. There's a whole store full of stuff made out of scuba at Parkway Parade, and I find it difficult to picture anybody who isn't a cartoon character wearing any of it. Minnie Mouse might be able to wear it, but I don't imagine I can. |
Pink Dress from www.getthelooks.com One again, I'm attracted by shoes that aren't likely to fall apart immediately after you get caught out in them in the rain. I wanted everything in this set to qualify as 'affordable', by which I mean stuff my daughter, who's attending art college in London right now, might be able to afford even if I don't expect she would like this outfit particularly. (She's more of a play suit/shorts with tights kind of a girl, but I could see her wearing the shoes cheerfully enough.) |
And finally... I clipped these items into Polyvore off of Uniqlo's Singapore website, and Polyvore has seen fit to convert S$ into S$ (no, this isn't a typo, it's just one more example of americentric web-designers forgetting to take the fact that not all $ signs one finds on the web are intended to represent US dollars). The T-shirt cost me S$19.90 and the jeans cost S$49. The Jane Shilton bag is around 10 years old by now, and I've blogged about the hat before, here. |
