I can remember several years ago one of my bestest girl buddies showing me an ap her very first iPhone that was supposed to help users to plan what to wear every day. The friend in question, Lynda, was one of the best dressed women I knew even then, and, for all that she was vastly enthusiastic about the idea of a digitalised closet, I know for a fact that she didn't get anything like as much use out of whatever that very early ap was as she had originally hoped to.
Times have changed though, and technologies have advanced. Indeed, the same friend was able to attach a couple of images out StyleBook, of an ap we both use, so that I could actually see the two outfits she was endeavouring to choose between for an upcoming interview at work. It was the sort of conversation we might have had lolling around in her real life bedroom back in the days when she too was based in Singapore. If nothing else, I am grateful to StyleBook for that.
StyleBook is intended to help users to keep track of what they already have in their wardrobes, and to know which items we are wearing most often - advance warning that a favourite pair of jeans is working too hard and is going to need replacing or that work colleagues might already be bored to death with what they see you in every day. Uploading all the necessary photographs can take a while, but I've noticed myself dressing a lot more thoughtfully since I first acquired the ap, partocularly when it comes to accessories, which I appear to have acquired an absolute mountain of over the years.

From left to right: 1. M&S dress worn with striped heels and real pearls doesn't quite work, in my opinion, mostly because I feel the heels make the dress seem just that tiny bit too short for me. 2. Same dress worn with bow-fronted flats and an assortment of silver/freshwater pearl/abalone jewellery (I wore this today and was pleased to hear my manicurist comment on how pretty my charm bracelet looked). 3 & 4. I've worn ensemble No 3 and it looked ok, but the red sandals might pop oh so much more loudly if only I had a red handbag to go with them, I think. Not the handbag shown in No 4 through. If I'm going to buy one, I want the exact same shade of red and nothing too formal; come to think of it, a common or garden canvas shopper could work for visits to the wet market. Hmm.
Meanwhile, I've been mucking about trying to export some of my StyleBook items to Polyvore, just to see.
